The Southeast Chapter’s Informal Mentoring Program is open to all SE Chapter members. Members may apply to be a mentor or to be mentored, or both. If at all possible, you will be matched by the Program Coordinator with someone in your geographical area.
Mentoring is done on a completely informal basis. The two of you can be in contact for an entire year, or less; length of and frequency of contact is up to those involved. It may or may not involve one or more face-to-face meetings, Skype or telephone calls, emails, social media, or even snail mail.
This program is in the experimental stage, and we want it to work well, so we encourage you to apply and help us to make it better. You do not need years of experience to participate as a mentor, and all levels are welcome and encouraged! All you must have is a willingness to meet with your mentee virtually once or twice a month, a willingness to listen, and a willingness to share. All materials are provided, and the mentoring process is guided throughout the program. We want this to be a good experience for everyone involved. If you feel that your first match is not going to work out for some reason, contact the Coordinator for a re-match.
